You’re at a comedy show. The punchline hits and laughs fill the air. The comedian makes a positive statement about your country that stirs up a short-lived celebration. A solitary celebration. Nobody in the audience joins this poor soul. The comedian does a 180 by claiming this clap was the proof that your country is kaput.
You have just witnessed the Lone Clap.
Joey Gladstone aka Uncle Joey was the resident comedian and goofball of the Full House family. Bearing a last name that would only be more appropriate for a smirking rock, Uncle Joey used this gesture when something was way too knee-slapping for him to handle. It also became his catchphrase.
Next time someone says something real funny, just tell them to Cut It Out.
Then start living in their basement and help them raise their kids.
I may be late to the ballgame, but Hannibal Buress is a resourceful person who doesn’t like to waste a thing. (Around 1:25) Watch him perform the “Pickle Flick,” an innovative gesture with a tasteful purpose.
This man has one of the funniest deliveries and material I’ve seen in quite a while. I don’t stay up-to-the-minute on comedians anymore, but I give many thanks to my friend from home for introducing me.
