Sammy Sosa, famous for record-breaking chases, unbelievable home run derbies, corking his bat, using steroids, and turning pale when nervous, popularized his very own home run celebration with the kiss -> chest tap -> kiss -> chest tap -> kiss -> peace sign. Any baseball fan will instantly recognize this gesture. Every baseball fan has also probably performed this gesture while playing baseball, wiffleball, or just horsing around with friends.

Super Bowl Gestures

Throughout last night’s Super Bowl, hand and arm gestures made several appearances.

Quarterbacks and coaches signed plays to each other. Coaches used arm gestures to ask the refs to call for certain fouls. Referees announced fouls and explaining why flags were thrown.

Beyoncé even threw up the Roc.

Despite stoppages, football moves at lightning-speed which necessitates instant communication. Hand and arm gestures serve as the perfect method to relay information across the field and to fans in the stadium and at home.
